This scarce catalog dates from the 1890's and features a quirky selection of household and decorative items made from animal horns (cattle, buffalo, kudu, gemsbok and springbok) and hooves including key racks, horns that also hold a thermometer and a calendar, “odor stands” (perfume stands with one or 2 glass stoppered bottles in horn holders), footstool, smokers’ sets, a bouquet holder, inkstands, pincushion, a holder for a feather duster, etc, also includes horns mounted on wood shields with plush and gold or silver trim, hunting horns (made to be blown), a horn violin (complete with f-holes), and drinking horns for fraternal societies, the firm solicits custom work including mounting horns with silver and gold, includes horns of American origin as well as horns imported from Africa, Brazil, Spain and Hungary. Fully illustrated throughout with somewhat crude black/white drawings that have been hand colored and touched with gilt paint where appropriate, original prices not included.
Condition: Thin paper covers soiled, rear cover nearly detached, well-thumbed, minor interior soil, rusty staples - contents are still quite legible and useful for reference.
